PAUL Brickley believes that consistency has been key to his side’s good form this season.
Westbury United moved up to second in the Toolstation League First Division with a 2-0 win over fellow promotion chasers Gillingham Town on Saturday.
“We’ve had a settled squad of about 18 or 19 players this year and I think the consistency in the side is why we’ve been doing so well,” said Brickley.
“It was a good battling performance on Saturday against a very good side and I’m happy with the team.”
Westbury took the lead in the first-half when Luke Smith fed Matty Smith, whose left-footed shot went in off the post.
When the hosts were given a penalty in the second period, keeper Nick Evans twice kept out Lee Gale with his legs, with the referee ordering the kick to be re-taken after encroachment in the box.
Minutes later Westbury made the game safe with a penalty of their own after Nathan Hallett was brought down in the box.
Matty Smith stepped up to score his second of the game and seal the points for Brickley’s men.
