BRADFORD Town boss Paul Shanley says that he was disappointed for his players after they were beaten 3-2 by Toolstation League Division One leaders Wells City on Saturday.
Bradford conceded twice in the last eight minutes of the game, but it was the decision to hand Wells a penalty just one minute into the second half that irked Shanley.
“Mark Cooper has stepped past their player and the lad just went down,” he said.
“The referee was leaning around one of our players so he couldn’t see it properly. When you see their man running back laughing to himself you know something is wrong.
“Two lapses of concentration at the end cost us but I’m not blaming the players because they were excellent and we were the better side.”
After a goalless first-half, the hosts took the lead through their controversial spot-kick.
Bradford hit back with a penalty of their own midway through the half when Jamie Jordan was brought down in the area.
Dave Percival slotted home before Jordan netted himself to put Shanley’s side ahead.
However two late goals turned the game on its head and inflicted Bradford’s seventh loss of the season.
Midfielders Lee Burke and Jerad O’Pray are set to return for Shanley when Bradford host Clevedon United this weekend.
Striker Dan Fowler could also return to the matchday squad.
