ON the opening weekend of the new season Fletcher Hoey fired a spectacular 25-yard strike, sandwiched by two Ben Sutton goals, to give Division One side Didcot Casuals an opening day 3-1 victory at Faringdon Town, for whom Martin Francis had previously equalised.

Champions Saxton Rovers opened their new campaign with a 3-2 home over AFC Wallingford thanks to goals from Adam Bailey, Ben Sutton and Mike Beale.

Wootton and Dry Sandford ran out 3-1 winners at home to Drayton via a George Casserley penalty and strikes from Jonathan Weir and Sam Nicholls.

Dane Pask netted a hat-trick in Saxton Rovers Reserves’ 5-0 win at home to Long Wittenham Athletic.

In Division Three Ardington & Lockinge’s return to North Berks League action ended in a 2-0 defeat at Lambourn Sports Reserves who scored through Tom Goodey and Matt Hendren.

Aaron Williams scored for newly-promoted Uffington United but the team went down 5-1 at Shrivenham A, for whom Colin Jackson and Bradley Ray both scored twice along with a goal for Dan Courtney.

Tom Dyer smashed a hat-trick in Faringdon Town Reserves’ 4-2 away win at Drayton Reserves. Martyn Hathaway grabbed the fourth whilst Kev Kogel bagged a brace for Drayton.

In Division Four, new boys Wantage A suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Hagbourne United with Luke Chambers scoring three times, Karl Guschtscha scoring twice and Joe Thorne, Lee Glass, Dan Leggett and Adam Excell all on the scoresheet.
