THE Globe look like serious challengers for the Swindon & District League this season after a fine 4-2 win away at Spectrum.

The away side went 1-0 up thanks to a great Christopher Holland strike before veteran Neal Quinn headed home a corner to make it 2-0.

Spectrum worked hard and were rewarded with a goal through Andy Marriot to make it 2-1, but goals from Anton Nicholson and Stevie Holland made it 4-1 to the visitors.

Spectrum continued to battle and grabbed a late consolation through Craig Kelly.

Queensfield maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 win at Lower Stratton.

The home side frustrated Queenie throughout, limiting them to long range efforts for the better part of the game.

Despite their hosts’ stubbornness, two goals from Blaine Fitzgerald and a late strike from Adam Leighfield gave Queenie the points.

VBA Rangers picked themselves up from last week’s thrashing to hammer Chiseldon 13-1 at Penhill, thanks to five goals from Gareth Walton, all of which came in the second half. Lewis Polden grabbed a first-half hat-trick, Nathan Wallace got one and there were braces apiece for Joe Harris and Carl Wheeler.

Tom Davies managed a late consolation for Chiseldon when he latched onto a long punt to smash home.

DJC Marlborough got their second win from two outings, beating Pembroke 2-0 at home.

The home side took an early lead in the first half thanks to Jamie Hughes, and 10 minutes into the second half Ryan Keely latched onto a long throw and smashed in his side’s second to give them the game.

Queenstown managed a fine 7-1 win at home to CitiFaith Ajax.

The score belied the effort put in by Ajax, who could only convert one of their many chances.

CitiFaith lost a pulsating game 5-3 to Ramsbury.

Goals from Ian Campbell, Max Thornton and Andi Drinkwater were not enough to hold off their rampant opponents, who found their feet thanks to an own goal, a hat-trick from Ash Bolt and one from Chris Bauer.
