SHELLEY Rudman's bid for a first World Cup title will be decided in Calgary next week after the Pewsey slider claimed a podium place in the penultimate round of the series in Canada.
Rudman, 30, finished third in round seven in Whistler to cut the gap between herself and series leader Marion Thees, of Germany, to just seven points with a round to go.
The result was a major boost for Rudman, who has made no secret of her struggles with the Whistler track, which also staged the 2010 Winter Olympics.
She said on Twitter: "A bronze medal for me today. Very happy considering this is my least favourite track on the circuit.''
Home slider Mellissa Hollingsworth won the race, with Australia's Lucy Katherine Chaffer in second spot, followed by Wiltshire's Rudman, who has been runner-up in the World Cup series for the past three years.
Series leader Thees, of Germany, finished fifth allowing Rudman to close the gap between the two heading into the final round in Park City next week.
