VALE were disappointed not to take victory froma game they dominated, scoring three tries and having two disallowed by a touch judge’s flag.
Trowbridge were first on the scoreboard with a penalty goal from inside centre Tom Weaver but Pewsey full back James Haynes evened the score at 10 minutes.
From the restart Pewsey was on the front foot and on the quarter hour a break from the back of a ruck by scrum-half Tom Haynes sent the ball out to hooker Nick Damper whose deft pass put left wing Matty Mercer in for a try, converted by James Haynes.
Five minutes later, from broken play the home team were through for a try converted by Weaver but Vale responded immediately, Tom Haynes offloading to supporting flanker Malcolm Dalzel-Job and James converting.
Tom Haynes had a try disallowed with inside centre Joe Tavaga having apparently put a foot in touch and Trowbridge finished the half with a penalty, followed by a converted try to lead 20-17 at the break.
James Haynes try in the corner was also denied a try by a flag early in the second period before Trowbridge booted a further penalty to take their lead to six points.
Haynes then sliced through the home defence to score between the posts, converting himself but Trowbridge had the final say as Weaver booted the clinching penalty for his side.
