12:00pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in Latest Sport News
TROWBRIDGE failed to make the most of their promising first half as they were brought back down to earth in Southern Counties South at Green Lane.
Having beaten Oakmeadians convincingly in their league opener, the home side were missing several players and then lost lock Mark Durant in the pre-match warm-up.
They led 6-3 at half time, two Lloyd Davis penalties to Tom James’ for the visitors, but Davis also missed three other shots at goal.
Sherborne seized control after half time as Trowbridge coughed up the ball in attack and a length-of-the-field move saw second rown Ged Want go over, James converting.
Trowbridge hammered away at their opponents for a way back into the match but Sherbrone held firm and the hosts wilted in the final quarter.
Sherborne sealed the bonus point as James bagged two tries and Marcus Healey also crossed, James converting twice.
