SUPERMARINE Ladies made a disappointing start to the season as they were defeated 36-7 by Bristol 2nds.
In the first 20 minutes, the visitors put pressure on the defence and opened up an advantage of two converted tries.
But Marine kept focused and this eventually paid off as flanker Amelia Buckland-Hurry crossed the line, with full-back Nat Williams converting.
A lost lineout allowed Bristol to nip down the wing for another try just before half time, taking the score to 26-7.
The visitors added two unconverted tries to their tally within the opening 10 minutes of the second period.
Marine were unable to claw any points back, although they improved defensively.
Forward of the match was awarded to Theresa Bickell and Williams was the back of the match.
Marine travel to Chipping Sodbury in the league next time out.
