RUGBY: Warminster 27 Sherborne 2nd 42
10:00am Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in Latest Sport News
WARMINSTER slipped to their fourth defeat of the campaign.
The hosts were in early trouble when a penalty and converted try put Sherborne in command. Jason Sprangle kicked two penalties to reduce arrears but another Sherborne try – with home centre Rob Bell in the sin-bin – extended their lead.
The home side responded with their best spell, scrum-half Sprangle bursting through a gap for a try he converted.
A restored Bell scored the second try and Sprangle’s extras gave Warminster a 20-18 half-time lead.
But they paid the price for falling asleep at the start of the second half, Sherborne scoring three tries to move 37-20 clear.
Talisman home captain Dave Coleman scored the Amber and Blues’ third try, Sprangle converting and full back Sam Couch was stopped just short of the line to deny them a bonus-point fourth.
Sherborne added a late breakaway try to complete the scoring.
