SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter has refused to be caught up in any mind games ahead of a potential play-off final clash with Poole Pirates.

The Dorset side have already made the final having overcome Lakeside, and the Robins will be looking to join them this evening when they take a 20-point lead into their semi-final second leg clash at home to the Birmingham Brummies.

The Pirates suffered a scare on Tuesday night with reports that Polish youngster Piotr Pawlicki had broken his collarbone riding in Sweden, prompting Poole promoter Matt Ford to declare that if he was ruled out it would be a ‘devastating blow’ to their chances of Elite League success.

But with the Robins yet to even make the final, Rossiter does not want to get involved and would rather focus on tonight’s meeting with the Brummies.

“I hope he isn’t badly injured because we never want to see that, but I am not really looking at it at and as far as I am concerned he will be riding against us,” he said.

“There are a lot of physchological mind games at this time of the season and around the final especially, but as far as I am concerned he is riding until I turn up at the track on Monday and find he is not there.

“I don’t want to get caught up in the hustle and bustle because it can affect our mindset, because we still have a job to do against Birmingham.

“Nothing will be easy against Ward, Holder and Kasprzak, so we need to keep our focus at such a vital time.”

Rossiter wants his side to put in a professional display this evening, and doesn’t want his riders to feel too comfortable after Monday’s win.

“The guys will all want to have a good evening, and it is important we finish the job because we are not there yet.

“I want them all to be professional, and continue our momentum.

“I don’t want the meeting used to test things because that is a bit disrespectful, but it would be good to get some laps under our belt if we do get into the final just a few days later.”
