SWINDON ROBINS: Robins to face world champ
8:00am Monday 8th October 2012 in Latest Sport News
SWINDON Robins will have to take on the new world champion this evening after Poole’s Chris Holder claimed the crown in Torun on Saturday.
The Australian went into the final Grand Prix of the season two points ahead of Nicki Pedersen, and after both made the semi-finals in Poland the pair clashed going into turn one, with Holder lucky not to be excluded after putting the Dane on the deck.
But he picked himself up and won the re-run, and in doing so also secured the world title, but packed up in the final as Swede Antonio Lindback went on to win the GP.
Robins number one Hans Andersen scored five points on his final appearance of the season, and will have to rely on a wildcard pick from series organisers BSI if he is to feature in 2013 after finishing 10th.
Former Swindon rider Jason Crump made his final GP appearance before retiring at the Marian Rose Motoarena, but failed to make the semi-finals as also finished on five.
