DARTS: WILTSHIRE are still searching for their first win of the 2005/06 campaign in Division Three of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) inter-county championship.

In their eighth and penultimate match of the season they went down in Hull 20-16 to Humberside.

This latest loss leaves Wiltshire one from bottom in the 10-team league on 135 points.

That is two points above basement side Northamptonshire but four adrift of eighth placed Gwynedd.

Wiltshire have one game left on the weekend of April 22/23 at the Gorse Hill Club against Devon.

If they can break their losing sequence and collect a win and Gwynedd lose they will avoid relegation for the second season running.

Wiltshire were missing six of their usual players for the trip to Hull but on a positive note gave a county debut to Tony Clark in the B team.

The 15-year-old acquitted himself well although losing 3-1 and did have nine darts at a double for a 2-1 lead. He certainly looks a good prospect for the future.

Wiltshire lost the opening three games of the ladies B match against Humberside and from then on were always playing catch-up the whole weekend.

They lost both the ladies and mens B matches by two legs to trail 11-7 after day one.

However, the next day the ladies A side gave Wiltshire hope with only their second win of the season. Victories from Lisa Smith, Karen Hutton, Sue Hanscombe and lady of the match Olive Wilmore gave them a 4-2 success and cut the overall deficit to only two matches at 13-11.

But that optimism was quickly blown away as the hosts won six out of the seven opening men's A matches to move 19-12 ahead and clinch the win.

The lone success in this poor opening being registered by Paul Bolton.

Unfortunately with the pressure off wins were then recorded by Conrad Summers, Richie Jones, Bob Phillips (man of the match), and Mick Cummins to give the final scoreline a more respectable .
