ONE of the world’s greatest and longest-lived bands is returning to Swindon for the second time in as many years.

Jethro Tull play at the Wyvern Theatre on Tuesday, March 16, a venue they last appeared at in a packed out and rapturously received concert in 2008.

The band, which was formed in 1967, has sold tens of millions of records, including classic albums such as Aqualung, Thick as a Brick, Minstrel in the Gallery and Heavy Horses.

Tracks such as Living in the Past and the title piece from Aqualung are among the most familiar in rock. Lead singer and flautist Ian Anderson lives with his family in Minety.

The UK leg of the current tour started on March 5 in Northampton, and the summer will see the band entertain audiences throughout Europe, the US and Canada.

Tickets for the Swindon concert, which the band promise will feature all of their biggest hits, cost £28.50, and the theatre warns that they’ll soon be sold out.

The box office can be reached on 01793 524481 and via www.wyverntheatre.org.uk
