A concert in the Railway Village on Saturday celebrates the Queen’s Jubilee and her links with Swindon’s railway history.
The GWR locomotive Princess Elizabeth was decommissioned in Swindon in February 1952, the same month in which King George VI died and Princess Elizabeth acceded to the throne. The concert will include the premiere of a new piece of music commemorating these two events.
It takes place at The Platform in Faringdon Road and is performed the Music Of Renown Ensemble (MORE) with support from the JTP Trust Concert Choir. Tickets are £5 from www.wegottickets.com or on the door.
