Mystery Jets at the 12 Bar in Swindon on May 14
Mystery Jets
Mystery Jets

For the Harrisons forming a band was very much a family affair with singer Blaine and his dad Henry creating the Mystery Jets for a party on Eel Pie Island.

The musicians recruited Blaine's school pals Kai Fish on bass and rhythm guitar and Will Rees on drums before discovering Kapil Trivedi as their lead guitarist.

The band started playing at a crumbling hotel ballroom and their Eel Pie Island parties snowballed into a whole new music scene.

The Eel Pie shows gave Jamie T his first gig and scooped the Mystery Jets a deal with 679 Recordings.

The guys appeared on BBC TV's Top of the Pops and released a number of singles and an album called Making Dens.

Their second album Twenty One is on release now and the single Young Love taken from the CD is already getting airplay.

It features the vocals of Laura Marling.

The Mystery Jets will be singing tracks from the album when they drop into the 12 Bar, Westcott Place in Swindon on Wednesday as part of their UK tour.

Tickets are £10 in advance, and £12 on the door, from 01793 535713.
