It must be very frustrating to be a motorcycle rider and find your carefully marked out space in a car park occupied by a car.

Without doubt the actions of a minority of motorists who would do this is a reflection on the ‘me’ culture which infests our society.

But it’s not only car drivers who exhibit this strange behaviour.

I am not sure Vince Bowers is correct in stating “If there are cars parking there in the motorcycle bays we can’t park elsewhere.”

I am sure that as a visitor to the shopping centre, Vince and indeed any motorcyclist is perfectly entitled to park their motor cycle in any designated parking bay.

This same principle applies to holders of disabled badges and young mothers with children. Just because there are special areas designated for their use, this does not preclude them from using any free space.

On the other hand the ‘ordinary’ user is made to feel they have indulged in some criminal behaviour should they park in a reserved space to which they are not entitled.

The car park is open to all vehicle types – and there really is plenty of space even on a busy Saturday.
