IT is good to see the Community Payback team in action in the town as outlined in the excellent reports from Dominic Gilbert and Elizabeth Mackley (SA July 10).
Many people will not be aware that the Community Rehabilitation Company covers four local authority areas and that clearing rubbish and improving amenities as undertaken in Sussex Square and the area close to the Western Flyer underpass is typical of the work undertaken by offenders.
Congratulations to the offenders and their supervisors for making such a good job of the areas. The only regrettable observation is the amount of rubbish they collected, which is the result of others’ ‘offending’ – an irony possibly not lost on the Community Payback teams.
