I RESPOND to the letter of July 9, ‘Housing unfairness’.
In my view, the writer is correct but Swindon Council is under the same obligation as all councils nationwide to house a proportion of the 400,000 newcomers arriving each year.
Something has to give and be cast aside to accommodate this massive increase in our population. I’m afraid it is going to be the noble efforts of our forefathers to ensure that people live in accommodation suitable for the family size.
We are (I fear) returning to Victorian housing values. My sympathies lie with the family concerned.
