LAST Friday, I once again had the opportunity of attending the final day of the Junior Good Citizen project, which is held in Potterne every year for two weeks.
Once again it has proved very popular and successful with more than 50 primary schools attending from around the county and with more than 1,000 pupils taking part.
This scheme is aimed at primary school children in Year 6 and highlights the positive role they can play within their community, the effects of anti-social behaviour and most of all how to stay safe within a variety of situations.
I would like to thank all the partner agencies for attending, which included officers from Wiltshire Council, police and fire service, Victim Support and Aster Communities.
These types of initiatives are vital for the continuing positive development of our growing local communities and the development and contribution that the young people of Wiltshire can play. I hope this scheme will continue for many years to come.
Coun Peter J Hutton, Portfolio holder for public protection, Wiltshire Council
