IT is with shame and anger I read your article regarding scuppering a care facility for autistic adults in Okebourne Park. This showed a lot of sour-faced people with arms folded in protest of a home being converted to care for people with autism.
Autism is not an illness that can be seen but is very intelligent people finding it hard to cope with mainstream life. They are caring and loving folk who need a warm and nurturing environment to live in safety.
The people in the photo should be ashamed of their bigoted ideas and lack of any understanding of mental health issues and the impact these have on families and the patients struck by this and multiple illnesses.
I bet if you were to ask any of the 12 on the driveway, most would have been affected or themselves suffering anxiety, depression and mental health problems. How heartless are these people to judge and condemn the mental health patients.
