TO read the comments attributed to Laura Hill ‘lead health adviser’ at GWH you might imagine she has an obsession with sex.

According to Ms Hill “Pride - is about sex being for everybody, whether gay or straight; old or young. It’s about what type of sex people want to have, who they want to have it with and keeping safe while having it”.

Her idea of a good outcome is the “really fabulous main reason people come to us is for check ups” and to back this up she opines “we want people to maintain a healthy sex life and get tested whenever they start a new relationship”.

As cases of STIs including gonorrhoea and chlamydia are increasing the hope of Ms Hill is that her team’s success is based on “early HIV diagnosis”; indeed she claims it to be a priority.

Can you imagine the outcry if the NHS had a drinks team encouraging people to drink as much as they wanted and to experiment with as many different alcoholic beverages as possible on the basis that they wanted people to experience the thrill of getting drunk, enjoying the totally liberated feeling which comes with being legless – with the legend ‘drinking is for everybody – it’s about what type of drink people want to have, who they want to have it with and keeping safe while having it’?

People would be free to come to the team for check ups to ensure their liver is coping well with the booze.

Success for the team could easily be measured by the early diagnosis of cirrhosis or alcoholic liver disease.

I suppose any thought of simply not having a ‘meaningful one night stand’ or casual sex with anybody who is available is not something she would encourage.
