S Nibbs, the religious fundamentalist whose watchwords are “Jesus loves me and anyone who looks and thinks exactly like me but anyone else better watch out for the fire and brimstone”, has hit on a remarkable new tack for his Adver letters.

Signally unsuccessful in answering the letters of people who wrote to oppose his views, by recourse to facts, he has decided to try answering letters people did not write.

In Monday’s Adver Mr Nibbs froths about a letter Martin Webb did not write even though he (Mr Nibbs) had waited patiently for it.

This method, replying to letters no one wrote, opens a world of possibilities and I wish Mr Nibbs every success at it.

Then, true to form, he returns to his favourite method: making statements which are demonstrably not true. He says foreign born people living here don’t contribute.

In fact immigrants, being younger than the rest of the population on average, contribute more in taxes and take out less in services than people born here, as every serious study on the subject shows.
