AS we get older we sometimes have senior moments, like the afternoon of Saturday, August 9 when I arranged for £150 to be dispensed at the cashpoint outside WH Smith in Marlborough, only to forget to pick it up.
As soon as I realised, I checked with the shops next door but no one had handed money in.
My bank said it had probably been taken back into the machine but no, it has been debited and someone else has enjoyed my ‘holiday’ money.
I hope their conscience is troubling them.
The contrast today was that someone handed in my property that I had left in a trolley at Waitrose.
Thank you to that honest person, I shall be more careful in future.
