Steve Nibbs, your reply to my letter (September 10) was the type of letter we have come to expect from you.

You appear to call me a liar with regard to reading the Bible, you also appear to call me unintelligent, a low life and a bluffer.

Why would I try to bluff you, Mr Nibbs, over what real Christians think of your vitriolic tirades?

There’s been enough of them writing letters to the Advertiser regarding your views, but strangely it seems that you do not reply to those letters.

I can assure you, Mr Nibbs, I am neither unintelligent nor a low life and I’m certainly not a liar or a bluffer.

You can insult me all you like because at the end of the day, it says a lot more about you than it does me.

You asked some weeks ago for certain people to prove that you were guilty of bigotry and hatred.

I’m afraid your letters speak for themselves on that issue, but once again you fall back on the same old thing by saying they’re not your views but the view of the Bible.

Tell me, Mr Nibbs, have you actually read it properly? I can assure you that I have.

I said in a previous letter that I was brought up in a Christian family, my father was a church elder and my mother taught in the Sunday school. I also have many certificates for scripture examinations and even visited the Didsbury College in Bristol many years ago, with a view to becoming a minister. So I have a very good grounding and knowledge of Christianity. But I’m afraid that your views on people and their way of life is far removed from the Christianity that I was taught and brought up with.

I will say once again, allow people to live their lives in the manner that they want to. If they’re wrong, then it’s their choice, it’s not up to you to dictate to others how to lead their lives.
