Further to my letter of Friday Oct 3 I have received an email from Julie Furneval, Traffic & TRO Technician, in which she states that after objections had been received to the original proposal for parking restrictions at the junction of Kelesboro Ave, Maskeleyne Way and Summerhouse Road in conjunction with the local ward councillors “we met and discussed a solution. This resulted in a change to the original proposal and all the relevant households were informed under statutory consultation”.

Having received a copy of the original plans, with which I was fully in agreement, I consider that I should have been informed when a decision was made to make any changes and given a chance to attend the meeting but apparently, although I use the road in question daily and live on the fringes of the parking restrictions, my property was not considered a “relevant household” and I was unaware of the meeting and the changes were made by stealth.

I now find that as no objections were received during the three week period to the changes to the original plan they were taken forward and implemented. The original request to introduce parking restrictions was submitted to the council by local ward councillors as a result of concerns raised by local residents but it now appears that our councillors have “discussed a solution” which will allow parking in the only part of the road where there has been traffic congestion and apparently will still be.

This rends the painting of yellow lines in the remainder of the area a complete and utter waste of time and money, without informing us as to what has brought about this change of heart, as all the “relevant households” have garage spaces and drives in which to park.
