After an affiliation with Wiltshire Blind Association lasting over 80 years, the Swindon Branch is changing its name to Swindon Blind Association and will operate independently of the county charitable company, now known as Wiltshire Sight.
The new association in Swindon will continue to be staffed entirely by volunteers. As far as visually impaired people within the Borough of Swindon are concerned, it will be business as usual with support continuing to be available to all our members and any new people, whether or not they have been registered blind or partially sighted. There will be no change in facilities at Craven House, currently used by other organisations supporting the blind.
The Craft Club, which was previously controlled by Wiltshire Blind Association, will now come under the aegis of the Swindon Blind Association but its members will have total control of their own operation. An Extraordinary General Meeting on November 17 will formalise the changes.
