Your article (SA November 11) featuring Swindon families covered the consequences of WW1 trench warfare and the deep impact on both the Leggett and Lang families.

All four lads were former pupils of Sanford Street School. One of the Leggett boys and Cecil Lang lost their lives in the same raid in June 1915.

Jack Lang was the the only survivor of the four that volunteered in August 1914. I would just like to add that Jack, during the course of the war, won the Military Medal for running communications between lines and for other brave work in the field. He returned from Belgium in April 1919.
