THE council is very quick to say how safe the new crossings are at the new Regent Street shops, but they aren’t really saying that at all.
I see Mr Heenan said the report into the crossings and the area nearby said the crossings were safe but I have yet to see any councillor say without any catches that the crossings are safe.
This means that if a horrible accident happens they will just be able to say it’s not their fault because the consultants said everything was OK when they looked at it. Once again they will get away with doing something that is to the detriment of the people of this borough.
It will be just like they did with the Wi-fi and the new concert hall they were supposed to be giving us however many years ago, but this is even more serious because lives are at stake. They had better remember that if the worst happens we will never forgive and never forget.
