I went to Gloucester Quays Christmas Market on Sunday with a coach trip.
What a lovely market; the atmosphere was lovely with live music, artificial snow, people dressed up and plenty of good quality products for sale.
Then you come back to Swindon and what have we got? Nothing.
A few wooden chalets down draughty Canal Walk.
There is no atmosphere in the town at all. Why on earth don’t they have the Christmas market on Wharf Green?
There could be carols on the big screen (where at the moment there is nothing).
The Christmas tree is already there and have signposts telling people it is there.
Hardly any of the shops are decorated. One shop I went in to had nothing, so I asked why no decorations and was told their head office told them they were not allowed. Why not?
If you want people to come to Swindon to shop, for goodness sake do something to invite people to come. It’s such a shame, as so much could be done.
