THE atrocities in Paris make me wonder what the world is coming to.
Why are young people so keen to kill and be killed?
When I was young, back at the start of the Second World War, we had to look death in the face to fight for our country.
Anyone who says they weren’t terrified is a liar. Many men came back scarred for life, physically and mentally. Many others never came back at all.
And we did it so our children and grandchildren could live in peace and safety.
I am old now, I know, but I would like to see younger people truly appreciate the sacrifice made by the soldiers of the two world wars by learning to live in harmony with each other.
