It was ironic to see David Renard’s column right next to the No access UK article in Thursday’s SA (22 Jan).
I don’t disagree with most of what our council leader wrote, but how can he talk about the success of Swindon in such glowing terms when so many people are so disadvantaged by a totally inadequate approach to access issues in the borough, generally using the stock (but often untrue) excuse of higher cost, by developers and planners alike?
Not until we have a concerted effort by all those with power to make changes, to consider inclusiveness at the heart of all facilities, rather than just looking at financial gain, can we truly regard Swindon as a success in today’s modern world.
