Can I suggest some correspondents take a deep breath and gain some perspective.

I agree that Sharia law is incompatible with this island’s traditions, but there is also a tradition of freedom to believe in whatever faith or none and to live your life as you choose within the law.

That is what the huge majority of Muslims do and to attempt to apply the actions of a few to all is questionable at the very least.

You might as well tar all Christians with the lunacy of the American religious right.

The Old Testament can be pretty savage in places too. Some people regard what is written there as literal truth. Should we also worry about them?

If the intention of some correspondents is to raise legitimate concerns that is their right, but the intemperance of some of their language might succeed in doing the terrorists job for them by creating divisions where there are none.
