It is that time of year when election leaflets come through the door and you consider who to vote for.

The person who is after your votes explains why he or she is the best one for your vote, and to this end, I have just received the leaflet for the Gorse Hill Labour candidate for this year, and I didn’t even think that we had Superman on our ward.

On his own, as he claims, he is responsible for the building of the Swindon Academy, also for the building of the Pinetrees community centre and he also stopped the housing on the Pickards Field.

I didn’t realise the council was a one man show and he did all of this. Pity he didn’t disagree with the flower pots at the crossroads, which cost around £89,000 and came from S106 monies. Or also fail to stop the chemist shop in May Close or the housing on the Headlands sports field. I wonder what his record is of answers to constituents’ emails. My record of such from him is nil.

Still, at least this ex-postman did some good. I wonder why we have so many on the council payroll when he does it all by himself.
