ON MY trip to the recycling tip in Darby Close I was surprised to find out that there was a one-hour wait at 10am on a Friday.
The staff were very kind and helpful. They were stacking the cars into rows so that everyone got seen in turn.
A member of staff was kind enough to tell me that the only time to be sure of a quick turn around was to come at 6am.
The helpfulness of the staff at the tip does not take away from the fact that this facility cannot cope with the demand from a town the size of Swindon.
It is not fair to the people using the tip that there is a one-hour wait even at off peak times.
To cope with the current demand we need two, or possibly even three, similar-sized recycling tips to satisfy the rapidly rising demands of the residents of Swindon for these recycling facilities.
