THE week before last we booked a trip on the Dragonfly canal boat at Kingshill. I have lived in Swindon since 1963 and have never seen the canal, although it has been extended.
It was a lovely day and we had an hour on there and we all really enjoyed it and would do it again. It was so peaceful and hard to believe we were in the centre of Swindon.
The trip takes you to Waitrose at Wichelstowe where the canal has been restored. Children go free and adults pay and it is worth every penny.
Before anyone starts saying there is rubbish in the Kingshill bit, yes there was a bit of rubbish, some blown in and some bottles, mostly thrown in, but the rest was clear of rubbish.
Our only complaint was it was not long enough. So come on Swindon Council – get the canal moving, it will be a great attraction.
If anyone wants to help with the restoration I am sure they are always looking for people to help.
