I WISH more cat owners would fit their pets with a collar and bell for the sake of local bird life.
I know hunting is in their nature and there’s no way that can be changed but the noise of a bell might give the birds a fighting chance.
My wife, children and I were sitting on our patio eating dinner when the neighbour’s cat leapt up and killed a sparrow on a fence post nearby. Not the sort of thing to watch while eating!
We are surrounded by people who have several cats each so it’s possible that hundreds of birds a year are being killed in our street. I dread to think how many are killed nationwide.
