IN RESPONSE to the article Tips to Stay Young, (Adver, July 23), I fully support the well established theory that to stimulate the mind is the key factor to a fulfilling life in our later years.

The frailty of the body may limit our physical activities, but as long as the mind is constantly stimulated, one does not grow old.

Re-reading the article, I note that all the well known people mentioned are in their eighties! So may I be permitted to show-off that I have reached 90?

The feedback I receive from my often controversial rhetoric is very reassuring so that I never feel alone.

However, it deeply disturbs me that there are so many elderly people out here who are living in isolation, without a mentally stimulating hobby, or a caring neighbour to alleviate their loneliness, in today’s broken society.

I know that I am richly blessed through the power of the written word and a wonderfully caring neighbour who is a treasured friend.

Albeit, it is absolutely vital in today’s multi-cultural society that everyone’s later years of life on earth are stimulating, so that no-one will ever again view the eventide of life’s journey with fear and dread.

So, it is absolutely crucial, for a healthy and happy society, that our senior fellow beings are truly cared for as in China! With respect, reassurance, warm communication and the power of universal love, whatever their needy situation!

You see, one day it will be you!
