MR Webb recently asked about compassion for those fleeing the world and seeking to come to this country to apply for asylum and seek refuge from terror in these countries, Ms Le Coyte also made reference to this situation, I wonder if they will comment on the following which has come to light over the weekend.

First the wife of the leader of Gambia, ‘Lady Jawara’, one of the three wives the leader of that country is allowed, by his religion, came to this country in 1994 and applied for asylum and refuge from those who ousted her husband from his position of leader in the country. She has lived here ever since on benefits and whatever else she is ‘entitled to’. This last week it has come to light that every three months she goes back to Gambia for three weeks at a time, where she is a leading light in the country's Golf Association and plays golf to her delight.

Her husband doesn’t claim any benefits, as he has lived in the north of Gambia, since he was disposed as leader. She was taken to court and admitted claiming a total of around £20,000 benefit fraud, £8,848 in housing benefit fraud, £1,776 in assorted council tax benefits and £9,255 in personal credits. Just how much she has been paid since ‘94 is not worth asking, it must be in the hundreds of thousands.

This proves just what a soft touch the UK is and I wonder how many more are on this sort of gravy train. The lure of the £9 minimum wage must make the world want to come to this country to claim it. There is also the case of the African lady who came to this country several years ago and had a multiple birth of five children.

Those children now go to private schools, costing around £8,000 a term and she can afford as she is a very wealthy and successful lady.

But the NHS has not, and it is reported that they have no intention to claim back the reported cost of that birth, which is put at around £145,000. So compassion, yes but as I said for our country, we have enough hangers on now.
