AFTER reading about the adultery web site Ashley Madison being exposed by hackers, I thought to myself, nothing much changes regarding the patterns of human behaviour.

I was in a restaurant with my wife in Exmouth this year. There was a young couple at the next table.

She had an engagement and wedding ring on the appropriate finger.

They were holding hands and were all over each other, as young sweethearts do, the world over.

The young lad suddenly slid under the table on to the floor, completely hidden by the elongated table cloth.

The young lady nonchalantly carried on eating her meal.

I rushed over and said to her “Excuse me, your husband has slipped under the table onto the floor, do you want me to phone a doctor?”

She drew me a dirty look and replied “Sir, my husband has just walked in the door.”

I am endeavouring with this effort to try to cheer us all up before we are in the grip of a freezing winter once again.
