ONCE again, when it comes to sensitive Tory issues such as Ashcroft’s book, the media focus on the frivolous revelations and not the cornerstones of democracy.

In my opinion the only person who should be interested in the use of a pig’s head in an initiation ritual by David Cameron should be Samantha Cameron.

She should be asking where, when, why and who? She may also ask Dave if similar rituals have happened since. Apart from Dave, who knows?

For the rest of the UK population, indeed the world, we should be asking why Lord Ashcroft thought he could buy himself a job at the top of UK government if he gave the Conservative Party £8 million. He obviously thought it would.

Some time ago a Tory councillor told some friends and me that Lord Ashcroft gave Swindon Conservative Party £38,000. Most people are aware that in the Tory Party ‘money talks’.

The poor and vulnerable in our country have always lacked this asset.

We know Lord Ashcroft had given a commitment to become a resident in the UK for tax purposes when he was made a life peer by William Hague in 2000, yet he alleges Mr Cameron was aware he had not given up his controversial “non dom” tax status when he joined the House of Lords. I think that is illegal.

So many questions the media have failed to ask. Why are they scared of the ruling elite or are they part of the ruling elite?

Let’s see some investigative journalism, dig about the top, collate the available information and print it. It is called ‘freedom of speech’ or ‘in the public interest’ and leads to open government.
