VOLKSWAGEN has been using computer software to beat the maximum emission levels allowed for their diesel engine cars.
The latest estimate is that 11 million cars have been fitted with these devices which can deceive the emission testing machines.
It is amazing that one of the biggest car makers in the world should be tempted to avoid complying with EU regulations in this way.
Germany is one of the countries most supportive of the EU and this adds to the mystery of why Volkswagen should have fitted these devices.
This is all about trust. This action by Volkswagen has shaken our trust in the honesty of the mighty multinational companies.
