THE giant steel making plant at Redcar has closed with the loss of 1,700 jobs.
British manufacturing was already in a very sorry state even before this latest closure.
The two big political parties have hardly commented on this shocking news.
One by one manufacturing companies are closing down and adding to Britain’s already enormous trade deficit.
It would appear that Britain does not have a comparative advantage when it comes to making things and there always seems to be a cheaper product made elsewhere especially China.
It is not sustainable for the British economy to be relying so heavily on cheap imported goods from China.
