ECONOMIC patriotism is where the government tries to buy British made goods to create British jobs for British workers.
Chancellor George Osborne has urged Chinese investors to bid for contracts to build HS2 as he opens the bidding for the high-speed rail line.
Building this rail link between London and Birmingham could have been a huge boost for British construction companies.
It looks likely the contract will go to China and another opportunity to create British jobs for British workers will have been lost.
