AS SOMEONE who has taken an active interest in the plight of homeless people and the causes, I find it unbelievable but not surprising, that politicians on all sides, with the exception of the Green Party, are backing the renewal of WMD, commonly known as Trident.

It comes at a repulsive cost of £100 billion to blow people and countries to pieces.

At the same time homelessness is out of control.

Recent studies and reports over the last couple of week show a huge increase of 79 per cent in homelessness since 2010.

The number of households seeking temporary shelter is nearly 65,000, the highest since 2008, with 2,510 families in emergency B&B up 35 per cent from a year ago.

Yet the Government is still going through with welfare reform, even though homeless charities have warned it will make more people vulnerable to homelessness.

Cutting benefits to pursue the evil project of Trident, where is the caring, compassionate conservatism that the Prime Minister boasted we would see under his leadership?
