I ATTENDED the full council meeting on Thursday and nothing has changed regarding the democracy of this council. Several Labour councillors did not attend for one reason or another and so the majority the Conservatives have went up to 10, so anything or everything goes.

Cllr Perkins boasted that since the GLL have taken over the Link centre the numbers have gone up from 450 to over 900 per day, so is he saying that under the council control, the admin was that bad to deter visitors. Can he also confirm reports now that the cost of the mini football pitches has gone up from £17 to around £40, per game?

Cllr Elliot told us that the pitch for parish precepts was that you could see the various tasks being done and if not, then you had the local parish to charge and get it sorted.

Surely under the current rules, you pay council tax, if it or anything like road sweeping, grass cutting is not done, then you complain to your local councillor and it’s sorted, although from personal experience, I know you’re talking to a brick wall, as all they ever say, if they do reply to your question, is it has got nothing to do with me and don’t forget the parish precept will be costing you at least around £50 as year extra, on top of the council tax.

Looking down on the councillors, I am still amazed at the number who during the whole meeting are looking at pictures and other subjects on their iPads, or mobiles... Must be a busy life.
