IT SEEMS that grandad Karl Andree, the pensioner who was supposed to get 378 lashes in Saudi Arabia, is now complaining about senior embassy staff not intervening for fear of upsetting the kingdom’s rulers and saying, “They were happy to see me rot.”
If that was the case how come the punishment was not carried out?
Did he really think he got the sentence overruled all on his own?
I suppose the British tax payer will be paying him compensation for getting himself locked up in a foreign country and breaking their sovereign rules.
Let’s get this right; Karl Andree is in a strict Muslim country whose rules forbid alcohol in any shape or form.
He’s an oil executive and must have been in the country for some time but went ahead and broke those sovereign rules and went ahead and started brewing his own booze.
I would imagine he’s learnt a harsh lesson, as a lot of other people will have.
If you’re in a foreign country you live by the laws of the land and that goes for oil executives.
Think yourself lucky you had the embassy staff in Saudi Arabia.
