MONKTON Park Golf Course and The Tenth Hole Tea Room would like to thank all the people who supported the charity lights switch on, on Friday, December 2. We would like to thank Chippenham Mayor and Mayoress Terry and Sylvia Gibson for attending.
Everyone attending gathered around the tree to sing Christmas carols and then the Mayor, with help from Father Christmas, who made a surprise visit, pressed the switch turned on the Christmas lights.
The tree and decorations were made out of recycled material. Our very good friend Bryan Williams designed and made the tree out of old plywood and other material while the decorations were also made out of yoghurt pots, lolly sticks and old CDs.
We would like to thank 2nd Calne Rainbows and 1st Chippenham West Rainbows for helping to make the decorations.
The evening was made very special by one of our regular customers, Ann, who organised some members of the choir to come and sing Christmas carols, which made the evening magical. My last thank you is to the team in The Tenth Hole for filling us up on turkey and stuffing rolls and mulled wine and mince pies.
We were raising funds for Home Start, the charity helps families through difficult times.
A customer and now good friend Peter sadly lost his daughter, Lynne Graveling, this year. Lynne not only worked for Home Start before she became ill, her family has benefited from the help of Home Start so we would like to dedicate the whole evening to the memory of Lynne.
We raised just over £300. If you would like to donate we are still collecting throughout December.
You can meet Santa at the Tenth Hole Tea Room on December 10-11 and 17-18 between 2pm-4pm. Meeting Santa is free but we would ask for a donation for Home Start if you would like to take photos. A lucky dip is available for children starting from £1.50 and mulled wine and mince pies for the adults are also £1.50.
Wendy and I would like to thank all our customers for their support through the year and especially at the charity events.
