POOR John Major.
I always thought he was a mild-mannered man who would only be remembered for his romps with Edwina Currie.
But now it seems that that this is no longer the case and his trademark will be disdain for democracy.
At a widely reported recent private dinner he said that those who voted to remain in the EU should not be dictated to by the “tyranny of the majority”.
In other words, forget democracy. I suppose it follows that referendums should be repeated until the views of the elite, who know better that the rest of us, prevail.
Clearly this is a message that has been learnt from the EU where elites rule the roost and the majority have to obey their diktats.
This disdain is precisely why the majority of voters in the UK voted to leave the EU.
