ALTHOUGH ready to attack Robert Feal-Martinez over his recent letter re climate change I see very few alternative suggestions from Andrew Day as to what else may be the cause. So far as the UKIP is concerned we believe there is scant evidence to suggest the cause is all man made, we know that we must continue with coal, nuclear and other power stations as "alternative energy sources" are, by themselves, an expensive and unworkable option in our increasingly energy dependent world and that our view is supported by many scientists around the globe.
We take the view that, for the moment, the evidence is far from conclusive either way concerning global warming and, as I am sure many of your readers will agree, "green taxes" are simply "taxes" and nothing more.
So far as the UKIP is concerned the "jury is still out" and we will not be jumping the gun without positive proof of the cause of climate change. Of course, if Mr Day has such proof in his procession I am sure that we will not be the only group wanting to see it.
As to his other point concerning campaigning against all scientific research he is, again, quite wrong in his opinion of us. We have, amongst our leading members, many researchers, scientists etc and fully support the science movement. What we do not support, unlike most other parties, is going off on a wild goose chase without positive evidence and use it as an excuse to raise already high taxes even further.
