WHERE indeed when there are so many inefficient departments within Swindon Borough Council, Mr Bluh must be spoilt for choice.
How many more years do the residents of Swindon have to keep reading and experiencing the inefficiencies of some departments.
In the forty plus years I have lived in Swindon I can truly say the service has become worse as each year passes.
I am not going to say it was better under Labour, Conservative or any other party because whatever party is in power the heads of the council stay the same and I wholeheartedly agree with the Adver when they say “The fish rods from the head down”.
The only way we are going to get anywhere in this town is to make the bosses accountable for what goes on in their departments.
For too long we have seen no set rules within departments, it appears the outcome is the luck of the draw as to who will answer the phone or pick up your query.
We have also read of the large number (above the national average) of cases passed to the ombudsman and upheld by members of public, doesn’t this say something?
Mr Bluh should be making this a priority to be reduced.
Swindon used to have a thriving town centre but it now consists of empty and boarded up shops, we have also seen the removal of street traders which is something you will find in every other town or city in the country but not Swindon.
Are the councillors out of touch, yes I think so.
May I make a few ‘common sense’ suggestions?
Bring down the Shop rates in the town centre, this will bring in not only the big but the small companies, I believe empty shops bring in no rates?
Let the street traders back in once the dull grey slaps have been finished, we need something to brighten up the town centre.
Keep the parking down, get rid of the drunks, skateboarders and cyclists and keep the bins emptied.
Once we get a thriving town centre back we should see an increase in money being spent which can only be a good thing.
